Market skirt upgrade

A visit to the “car boot sale” Sunday morning markets in Wimbledon is not for the faint hearted. These markets are held in the car park of Wimbledon Greyhound track and attract a mixed bag of offerings – a load of junk and a few interesting pieces of clothing, toys, home-ware etc. Be sure to take plenty of small change as most items can be haggled down to a pound or less. There is also a fresh food section where seasonal fruit & veg can be bought and also meat from the butcher vans – look out for bulk purchases – 3 chickens, slab of steak.

On my recent visit I was lured to buy a red tartan skirt. The style was not to my liking, nor the size; however the fabric was spot on and it only cost me a pound!

Alterations to complete

  • remove elastic waist
  • shorten skirt
  • add new waistband
  • add zipper
  • add lining
