The Jasmine Dress and Lachlan Waistcoat

I have so many fabric scraps that just aren’t big enough to make adult’s clothing out of, so in an attempt to use all those scraps and remnants I have started designing and making clothes for kids and toddlers.

For first attempt I decided I’d off and purchase some tip top fun printed cotton from Fabrics Galore – this does make my plan to use up scrap obsolete, but at the time made sense to me…. plus i wanted to make some garments that were just spot on for my 2 god children in Australia.

I followed some online patterns, amending as needed

Jasmine Dress – http://bridgetbaxter.blogspot.co.uk/2008/04/happy-anniversary-to-you.html

I changed the pattern to make the dress entirely reversible and added a contrasting fabric strip on the hem. I have made a size 4 dress.

Lachlan Waistcoat- http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/orlando-toddler-vest

I changed the pattern to make the waistcoat completed reversible and added front pockets – kids love to put things in them:) The waistcoat is approx size 3 Toddler.

Thanks to both of the above pattern tutorials, they provided inspiration.
