A sweet layered slice consisting of a coconut base, caramel centre and chocolate top.
Chocolate Caramel Slice
1⁄2 cup brown sugar
4 oz. butter
1 cup coconut
1 cup flour
Ingredients – Caramel
2 Tbsp golden syrup
1 tin condensed milk
2 tsp butter
Ingredients – Top
1⁄2 cup of drinking chocolate
3 oz. Copha melted
Preheat oven to 180C
Cream butter and sugar together. Add flour and coconut.
Press into a tin and cook in moderate over for 15 minutes
Melt condensed milk, syrup and butter in a saucepan. Stir continuously until it thickens and takes on a slightly caramel colour.
Pour over base and cook a further 10 minutes in oven. Allow to cool.
Melt copha and drinking chocolate. Pour of slice. Allow to set and then cut into squares.
Tip: Use 150g of dark cooking chocolate instead of copha for the top.
